Prof. Adi Akavia

Dr. Adi Akavia is a senior lecturer in the University of Haifa starting October 2018. Previously, Akavia has founded and directed the Tel-Aviv Jaffa Cybersecurity Research Institute (JCRC) at the Academic College of Tel-Aviv Jaffa, where she served as a senior lecturer (tenured) after returning from a 3-years post-doc at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IAS) Princeton, Rutgers University NJ, and the Weizmann Institute.

Akavia has completed her PhD at MIT under the supervision of Prof. Goldwasser (Turing Award winner 2012), funded by the prestigious Microsoft Graduate Fellowship and MIT Akamai Presidential Fellowship. Akavia is known primarily for her expertise in (i) securing cryptosystems against prominent attacks such as side-channel attacks and establishing rigorous security of cryptosystems and primitives; (ii) designing fast efficient algorithms for big data applications via data reduction techniques, sub-linear algorithms and sparse approximation. In recent years she combines her expertise for the development of systems for fast and secure computation.
