Prof.dr. Ronald Leenes (1964) is full professor in regulation by technology at the Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology, and Society (Tilburg University) and director of the same institute. TILT currently has about 50 researchers.

His primary research interests are techno-regulation, conceptual issues with respect to privacy, data protection in practice, data analytics, accountability and transparency, regulatory failure, robotics and human enhancement. He has been deeply involved in seven EU projects (FP6, FP7, H2020), both as researcher, work package lead and member of the management team.

He was principal investigator and TILT project coordinator in the EU FP7 Robolaw project studying ethical and legal issues of robotics, human enhancement and neurosciences. He has been involved as project lead and researcher in many projects for the European Commission and Dutch ministries.
